Abstract
Background & Purpose: Due to the increasing importance of intellectual capital in today's companies, many researchers are looking for ways to measure intellectual capital and examine its relationship with the performance of organizations. The main purpose of this study is to determine the role of intellectual capital on performance of knowledge-based organizations based on the role and position of organizational innovation.
Methodology: The required data were collected through the distribution of a researcher-made questionnaire with 94% reliability among the managers and researchers of a defense-based knowledge organization. The present study is an applied research in terms of purpose and also in terms of descriptive-correlational research in terms of its method.
Findings: The results of this study show that the dimensions of intellectual capital, including human capital and relational capital, both directly and indirectly affect the performance of the organization through the mediating role of innovation variable.
Conclusion: It is suggested that in the field of human capital, more emphasis is placed on the field of knowledge and creativity in order to strengthen the amount of human capital and, consequently, innovation and organizational performance. On the other hand, processes and guidelines in the field of structural capital need to be strengthened to speed up the process. Also, proper team building and utilizing the intellectual chain and knowledge network in performing the work of the organization strengthens the capital, which can increase customer trust and the level of organizational performance.
