Abstract
Background and purpose: new models of new public administration, such as the management of public values ​​and modern public services, emphasize a set of new values ​​in the administration of countries. Social responsibility is one of these values. Based on this, this research has been done with the aim of knowing the dimensions and factors affecting the social accountability of defense organizations.
Methodology: This research is descriptive in terms of purpose, applied in terms of type of use, and cross-sectional in terms of time horizon. The statistical population of the research included organizations in the field of defense, and 60 organizations were selected as samples by simple sampling. In this research, a questionnaire tool was used to collect data. The validity of the tool was confirmed through convergent validity and its reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient.
Findings: The results of the research showed that the variables of mission type, organizational culture and organizational image as causal factors, citizens' demands, servant leadership style and employees' willingness as mediating factors and environmental complexity and environmental instability as moderating factors have an effect on the social responsiveness of organizations.
Conclusion: Formulation of organizational citizenship charter, participatory decision-making with the presence of stakeholders, use of green administrative technologies and attention to the role of citizens' demands and organizational culture encouraging social accountability are among the strategies to strengthen social accountability of defense organizations.
